DIY and the Pinlock System

Requests for a do-it-yourself kit for the Pinlock system are coming in frequently. Customer satisfaction is important to us, but this is an item that we will not be offering.  Pinlock will be not be offering a DIY kit. Following are the key reasons that we do not offer a DIY kit: First, any modification of  a helmet will void the warranty on the helmet. Placement of the holes for the pins is quite critical to prevent the lens from interfering with the operation of the shield and to create the proper tension on the Pinlock lens so that it seals tightly against the shield which is critical to the proper function of the lens. Sorry to disappoint you on this one. So what are the possible solutions? In Europe many helmet brands and models come with a Pinlock ready shield as standard equipment when you purchase a new helmet.  Many of the helmet manufacturers believe that the American consumer is not interested in an effective anti-fog system such as Pinlock. So those of you interested in a Pinlock system for your helmet, contact the manufacturer. In early Spring Pinlock will be offering an adhesive lens which will be another possible option. However, you will not be able to interchange the lenses and it will be offered in clear only.
